Ava Rubin - Strength Coach

Ava began her career in the fitness industry in 2017 as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor at Body Space Fitness (BSF) in New York City, where she coached for four years. She also completed a summer Strength & Conditioning internship at Rutgers University in 2021, before moving back to her hometown of Cleveland, OH, to focus on collegiate athletics.


She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at Cleveland State University. In this role, Ava oversees all strength and conditioning for Men's Lacrosse, Women's Volleyball, Women's Soccer, and Men's and Women's Swim, while also managing the department's internship program and weight room scheduling & maintenance.

Ava holds a Master's degree in Exercise Science, along with key certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).

In addition to coaching Team Wilpers athletes, her expertise is leveraged in local in-person training from her home gym and remote programming for graduated collegiate athletes.

Ava and her husband, Adam, live in the suburbs of Cleveland with their Bernedoodle, Goose, and are expecting their first child in February 2026.
