Dani Sturtz - Running Coach
Dani has a passion for running, teaching, and living a healthy lifestyle. She is a RRCA certified run coach, a Lululemon legacy run ambassador, and has lead the Lululemon UWS run club since 2012. Dani has been a coach for NYC Runs, Girls on the Run, and UJA, in addition to privately coaching runners. Her goal is to spread her love of running and what it can do for the body, both physically and mentally. Dani enjoys helping others achieve their running goals and feel proud of their accomplishments.
Dani grew up doing gymnastics, dancing, and playing team sports. In high school she played field hockey and lacrosse and went on to play both sports in college on the club teams at Penn State University. Dani didn't start running until after her sophomore year of college and hasn't stopped since. She has completed 23 marathons, including 11 NYC Marathons and 6 Boston Marathons. She has one Abbot World Major marathon left to run in order to earn her six star medal.
In addition to being a runner and a run coach, Dani is a former elementary classroom teacher and works as a staff developer for the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. She is also a pilates instructor at Power Pilates, a yoga instructor, and a volunteer for Back on My Feet NYC. Dani's passion for living a healthy lifestyle led her to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where she received certification as a Board Certified Holistic Health and Nutrition Counselor through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). She strives to help others feel their personal best by teaching them about the impact that food has on their body.
Dani has been running in NYC since 2006. She loves being part of the NYC run community and runs with Brooklyn Track Club & Old Man Run Club. Dani is a distance runner, focusing mostly on 5k to marathon distances, but every once in a while will race a mile. She also enjoys running unsanctioned races across the city and has run The Speed Project LALV multiple times. She will be running it again this spring.
