Cycling Basics

 Book a Cycling Basics Class to work one-on-one with a coach. 

From understanding class selection (e.g. Tabata, Powerzone, HIIT, etc.) riding form and bike mechanics to help finding your training zones, we meet athletes where they're at so you can fully engage in the sport of cycling and the Peloton community. Questions about cycling - we can help!


Form Check and Refit

Don't go it alone. Check in with your technician anytime. 

While we generally recommend riders get refit every 8-12 months, our body may have other plans. After you've had a bike fitting, pop in for a 30 min form check and refit (if needed) to ensure you remain injury free and in the optimal riding position to meet your goals.


WHAT TO EXPECT

Bike Fitting, Form Check & Refits

Once connected via Zoom or Facetime your personal fitting will consist of three parts: 

  • Pre-fit Interview and Movement Assessment
  • On-the-bike observation, cleat placement and settings adjustments 
  • Your Follow-up Report

* Bike Fittings can be completed on a Peloton or any other indoor, connected bike.

Cycling Basics

Once connected via Zoom or FaceTime, your session will consist of the following: 

  • Q&A with your coach to discuss goals (or realistic goal setting) and mapping out a path to success
  • New to Peloton or cycling in general? We'll discuss class selection, on-the-bike riding form, bike mechanics and maintenance, FTP instructions and finding your training zones etc.  We meet athletes where they're at in their journey and provide you with the tools needed for success

  • Solutions focused discussion to remove barriers and uncover what motivates you and will drive change
  • Follow-up email summarizing our discussion with helpful links and resources. Your coach may also include specific drills and exercises that target different elements of your cycling technique

* Cycling Basics Sessions can focus on any type of riding including but not limited to Peloton, road cycling, gravel, mountain biking, cyclocross, triathlon, event training, etc.

HOW TO PREPARE

Setup your Phone, Tablet or Web Camera

  • Set your phone / camera on a desk or tall chair at approximately the height of the saddle. 
    • The ideal distance between the camera and your bike is 2.5 meters (approximately 9ft.). 
    • This distance is measured from the side (profile) of the bike, in line with the crank (pedal) center.
  • Please have the appropriate tools available to adjust your shoe cleats and your saddle if necessary. 
    • This is typically a hex key/allen wrench, but may vary depending on your shoes and/or bike.
